Main points of Lani's development so far.

Iolani arrived on the 22nd December 2006, at 2:51 after a 55 minute labour. After we got over her Lactose intolerance, she slept more and for longer periods. But that still was much. She was a very alert baby. She was very strong too. She pushed away from the breast at birth even though both the midwife and i were holding her, the midwife stared at me with an open mouth, saying 'Did she just...' I just nodded. She would turn her head to follow people when they crossed the room from the day she was born.


She has always loved water, would try to reach toys at 2 months, she could sit quite well at 5 months,

At 6 months:

Roll front to back and back to front
Can sit unaided
Can pass objects between two hands
Can bash two objects together
Will give an open mouthed kiss if asked for
Can rotate on her belly to get items
Drags things of interest to herself


At 7 months:

Can play peekaboo with a cloth
Shakes her head when you tell her no for pulling on glasses/hair/earrings


At 8 months:

Can crawl
Can pull herself to standing using the sofa
Eat just about any food put infront of her
Drinks successfully from a sippy cup
Says 5 words
Waves bye-bye
Can walk with hands held
Can cruise around the furniture


At 11 months:

Walk with one hand held
Signs 7 words
Says 8 words
Dances to music
Plays peek-a-boo with her hands
Loves Teddies/soft toys
Can stack blocks
Hides things behind her back if she doesn't want to give them up


At 13 months:

Signs 11+ words
Says 23 words
'Sings' tunes back to you
Turns pages in board books and babbles- looks likes shes reading them
Pretend plays with teapots and cups
Can stand unaided
Can stand up unaided
Can walk 7-8 steps unaided
Uses two words together - 'iya dada'


At 18 months:

Uses atleast 52 words + a few 3-4 word phases
Can walk well
Can run
Can climb onto the sofa and off again
Pretends to be a Frog and Elephant
Adores animals
Signs 17 words
Loves to dance
Repeats words back to you


At nearly 20 months:

Uses 90+ words
Uses 2 words sentences most of the time
Can count 1-2-3 in English and in Spanish.
Recognises the numerals 1,2,3 and letters A,B,C
Sing/hums most of the ABC song and several other songs.
Is good at climbing
Is very attracted to dirt
